There are two types of Social Security we will be discussing in relation to Work Incentive Planning and Assistance.  They are Title 16 program Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Title 2 programs Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and Social Security Childhood Disability Beneficiary (CDB) and Widow/Widowers benefits.  People who receive Title 16 are recipients, people who receive Title 2 are beneficiaries.

These two types of Social Security are available to people with disabilities.  The eligibility process for each program  differs but each carries with it work incentives that enable a person with a disability the opportunity to pursue employment  while keeping a saftey net under them without the fear of completely losing Social Security benefits while they seek economic self sufficiency.

People with visual impairments are eligible for the work incentives related to these programs depending on the type of Social Security for which they are eligible.  However, there are special rules that apply to people who are blind and they will be discused as well.

Follow the links to learn more about each program and the work incentives that apply.
